On November 12, a two-day workshop organized by Heraeus Electro-Nite was held at the ArcelorMittal Hochfeld site, attended by representatives of leading German steel manufacturers. The workshop focused on optimizing the continuous casting process and provided practical measurement techniques to improve quality. The first day focused on the theoretical basics: the participants received an introduction to continuous temperature measurement CasTemp in the continuous casting tundish, combined with a liquidus measurement to improve casting quality. The day was supplemented by a tour of the ArcelorMittal Hochfeld steelworks, which provided valuable insights into the production processes.
On the second day, the focus was on practical applications: The participants were able to understand the correct installation of a CasTemp sensor in a manifold. In addition, a revised version of the Hydris measuring system for hydrogen measurement was presented, whose new evaluation technology improves the analysis of measured values. Finally, Heraeus Electro-Nite presented the digital solution Nite-Vision, which enables a central consolidation and analysis of all measurement data from Electro-Nite technology and thus offers valuable support for process optimization.
